Varifocal Lenses

The Standard 1.5 index material this Varifocal is made from is the lowest index available, so it’s only recommended that this index is chosen for prescriptions with sphere powers up to +/- 3.00. This is a “no frills” lens offering with no added features such as Scratch Resistance or Anti-Glare but they will make a perfectly good choice when used as a backup or spare pair to your main pair, or if you’re working with a tight budget. This lens is made from a type of optical plastic called CR39 making it fine for Full rim and Semi rim frame types but not suitable for Rimless frames which require a minimum of a Thin 1.6 index lens.

The lens material that this varifocal is manufactured from is the most basic option we offer apart from that it has a Scratch Resistant coating applied. This will prevent the lens surface from becoming scratched too easily. The Ultra-Tough Scratch Resistant coating will prolong the life of your lenses making these an ok back up or spare pair if your sphere lens powers are no higher than +/- 3.00. The Ultra-Tough coating will be especially useful If you are prone to scratching your lenses easily.  Our standard 1.5 index Digital Varifocal lens is made from a type of optical plastic called CR39 making it fine for Full rim and Semi-rim frame types but unsuitable for Rimless frames which require a minimum of a Thin 1.6 index lens.

This Varifocal design is still our entry level design but its cosmetic appearance is a step up from Ultra-Tough due to the added benefits of the Anti-Glare coating applied to the lens. Anti-Glare (also called Anti-Reflection) improves vision, reduces eye strain and makes your lenses more attractive. These benefits are due to the result of the Anti-Glare coating virtually eliminating reflections from the front and back of the lens. With the reflections removed more light passes through the lens improving visual acuity with fewer distractions making the lenses look nearly invisible. Although the 1.5 index and CR39 material still makes this a thicker option than a higher index lens the Enhanced Anti-Glare coatings will give you good cosmetic results if your Varifocal prescription is lower than +/-3.00 sphere powers. It has all the benefits of the Anti-Glare lens but with the added special features listed below. Also, as with all our Standard 1.5 index lenses this lens choice is made from a type of optical plastic called CR39 making it fine for Full rim and Semi-rim frame types but unsuitable for Rimless frames which require a minimum of a Thin 1.6 index lens. Please keep in mind that this is a good lens when compared to some of the high street chains but it is still only an entry level Varifocal in our range, so if you require a superior quality Varifocal you will need to consider either the Pro-Series “Better” or our “Best” Varifocal the Omni-Vision HD.

The only way the overall comfort and visual experience of the Varifocal can be bettered is by upgrading to either the Pro-Series or Omni-Vision HD. If it’s the Digital design you choose but you want the lenses made lighter and slimmer then you need to also choose a higher index like 1.67 or 1.74. The design of this Varifocal is still the most basic we supply but It is loaded with Special Coating Features and represents incredible value for money when compared to our competitors equivalents.
