The Standard 1.5 index material this Varifocal is made from is the lowest index available, so it’s only recommended that this index is chosen for prescriptions with sphere powers up to +/- 3.00. This is a “no frills” lens offering with no added features such as Scratch Resistance or Anti-Glare but they will make a perfectly good choice when used as a backup or spare pair to your main pair, or if you’re working with a tight budget. This lens is made from a type of optical plastic called CR39 making it fine for Full rim and Semi rim frame types but not suitable for Rimless frames which require a minimum of a Thin 1.6 index lens.

Although the 1.5 index and CR39 material still makes this a thicker option than a higher index lens the Enhanced Anti-Glare coatings will give you good cosmetic results if your Varifocal prescription is lower than +/-3.00 sphere powers. It has all the benefits of the Anti-Glare lens but with the added special features listed below. Also, as with all our Standard 1.5 index lenses this lens choice is made from a type of optical plastic called CR39 making it fine for Full rim and Semi-rim frame types but unsuitable for Rimless frames which require a minimum of a Thin 1.6 index lens. Please keep in mind that this is a good lens when compared to some of the high street chains but it is still only an entry level Varifocal in our range, so if you require a superior quality Varifocal you will need to consider either the Pro-Series “Better” or our “Best” Varifocal the Omni-Vision HD.

Although tinted lenses can be chosen to suit your style and personality, they can also offer significant benefits to your vision.

Solid Tints - One colour throughout the lens. The standard range of colours are Grey, Green/Grey or Brown. On request we can also tint most colours like pink, blue, yellow and so on. We can send you a colour chart to choose from.

Graduated Tints - The lenses can be made to be darker at the top, gradually fading down to a light tint or clear tint at the bottom of the lens. Graduated tints can be supplied with the same range of colour options as solid tints.

A Graduated Tint not only looks cool, it additionally offers flexibility when outdoors. The top part is darkest as of course sunlight is brightest when you look upwards. Having a lighter or clear tint at the bottom of the lens improves vision when for example reading a book on the beach or having dinner al fresco!

Our Blue-Light Protect range of lenses have a multi-layer design that reduces glare and reflects blue/violet light away from the lens which helps to relieve long-term eye strain caused by modern day overuse of electronic devices. Blue-Light Protect is an additional treatment and can be added to Anti-Glare, Enhanced Anti-Glare and ULTIMA Anti-Glare lenses. Our recommendation is to choose the ULTIMA Anti-Glare with Blue-Light Protect, this way you get all the worthwhile benefits of both.

You will see a lot of discussion about whether to go for Polarised OR Mirrored lenses, but in fact you can choose both. This coating can be used IN ADDITION to Polarisation for the ultimate in Winter & Water Sport protection. Popular colour choices are Silver, Gold, Green and Blue, but we can also supply many other colours.

Mirrored lenses are ideal for anyone who is sensitive to bright light. Note that this layer of protection is applied to the front of a lens to reflect direct light - it differs from Anti-Reflection coatings which are applied to the back of a lens.

Solid Tints - One colour throughout the lens. The standard range of colours are Grey, Green/Grey or Brown. On request we can also tint most colours like pink, blue, yellow and so on. We can send you a colour chart to choose from.

Graduated Tints - The lenses can be made to be darker at the top, gradually fading down to a light tint or clear tint at the bottom of the lens. Graduated tints can be supplied with the same range of colour options as solid tints.

Solid Tints - One colour throughout the lens. The standard range of colours are Grey, Green/Grey or Brown. On request we can also tint most colours like pink, blue, yellow and so on. We can send you a colour chart to choose from.

Graduated Tints - The lenses can be made to be darker at the top, gradually fading down to a light tint or clear tint at the bottom of the lens. Graduated tints can be supplied with the same range of colour options as solid tints.
