Meta Connect 2026 took place on 23 September, and it was the biggest eyewear announcement Meta has made. Three new lines, a stack of new frame styles, and — for the first time — a Ray-Ban Meta with no camera at all.
Meta says there will be over 100 styles of AI glasses by the end of this year. If you wear a prescription, here’s the part that matters: almost all of them take prescription lenses, and you don’t have to buy those lenses from Meta. Here’s everything that launched, and what it means for your eyewear.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3): What’s New
The third generation of the world’s best-selling AI glasses went on sale on the day, from £409.
The styles:
- Aviator — the classic silhouette, £409—£489 depending on colourway
- Zena — a bold new cat-eye frame
- Wayfarer — the original, still in the line-up
- Limited-edition Aviator — Milky Beige with brown Transitions lenses, marking the Aviator’s 90th anniversary, at £539
There are 27 colour and lens combinations across the three styles.
What’s improved over Gen 2:
- Battery life up to 9 hours — an hour longer than Gen 2
- A slimmer, more comfortable design with a new customisable action button for instant Meta AI access
- A six-microphone array
- The same 12MP camera and 3K Ultra HD video, plus professionally adjustable temple tips
- New dynamic photos, so you choose the best frame from a shot
Ray-Ban Meta Audio: The Camera-Free Option
The surprise of the event. Audio has consistently been the most-used feature among Ray-Ban Meta wearers — music, podcasts, calls and Meta AI — so Meta removed the camera altogether, which let the design team build lighter frames with slimmer profiles and longer battery life.

- Clubmaster — the retro-inspired Ray-Ban silhouette
- Burbank — a classic rectangle
The details:
- No camera at all — built purely for listening, calls and hands-free Meta AI
- 43 grams — Meta’s lightest and slimmest AI glasses so far
- Up to 12 hours of battery, plus roughly another 48 hours in the case
- 23 colour and lens combinations, and both styles take a wide range of optical prescriptions
- Ships 13 October, from £319
If the camera was what put you off smart glasses, this is the pair that removes the objection.
The Wider Range: New Styles, New Colours and Display in the UK
Ray-Ban is only part of it. Meta’s own collection with EssilorLuxottica grew too, and one announcement matters more in the UK than anywhere else.
- Meta Ray-Ban Display is now on sale in the UK at £749, and can be ordered online for the first time. New features include cycling and public transport directions, holographic video calls and notifications mirrored from your phone.
- Meta Capri and Meta Nova — two new frame shapes, designed to fit more faces
- Meta Adventurer — from £229, Meta’s most accessible price yet, on sale 23 October
- Meta Fury — a limited edition clear frame with mirrored lenses, available only in Meta Lab locations at launch
- A new Ivory colourway of Meta Glasses by Kylie Jenner, plus a first collaboration with LISA
- Hearing enhancement — an FDA-cleared feature for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss, set up at home in minutes. Launching in the US first, on supported AI glasses.
- Meta Glasses are also arriving in Singapore, South Korea and Mexico
